Humm... wasn't the original DISCO spec written by MS, IBM and Ariba?

no IBM started with something different [can't remember the name], WSIL is the result of the merging of the two specs.

You might be thinking of UDDI, which is MSFT, IBM & Ariba

IBM original specification seems to be ADS (Advertisement and Discovery of Services) , see this link http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2000/11/01/protocols/quickref.html
